After the Rain
Original Oil Painting
12″ x16″
Sometimes it’s not always the flower that catches our eye! Here, the droplets of rain are the stars.
A honeysuckle branch and its leaves hang heavy after a summer shower, each surface jeweled with water — drops sliding, pooling, catching light against the cool shadow of a storm-grey background. The tubular red flowers cluster at the upper left, a warm accent against the deep greens and muted mauve of the background.
Painted in oil with careful attention to the optics of water — how a droplet refracts light, casts shadow, and trails as it falls.
